The two-stage design pairs a 16" diameter solid auger with a large 19.5" diameter fan spinning at 790 RPM, a combination purpose-built to transfer snow efficiently from the cutting edge to the chute without clogging, even in wet, heavy, or deep snow conditions. The hydraulically activated discharge chute rotates a full 180 degrees and is controlled from the operator's seat via Ventrac's exclusive S.D.L.A. control system, keeping the operator behind the controls and moving rather than stopping to manually redirect throw direction.

Built to hold up in harsh winter conditions, the KX480 features a reversible high-carbon hardened steel cutting edge, high-carbon hardened steel side shoes, and adjustable cast iron skid shoe discs at the rear — all wear surfaces designed to be replaced or adjusted in the field rather than requiring shop downtime. The 48" working width with folding wings extends to 48.75" and clears a cutting height of 26.5" (without auxiliary auger), giving commercial operators broad, efficient passes on sidewalks, paths, and tighter commercial areas where a full-width machine won't fit.
