The STIHL MS 194 T was designed to be the primary saw for climbing arborists who spend their day in the canopy — a tool that needs to be light enough to carry aloft, precise enough to make clean directional cuts in tight crown positions, reliable enough to start and run all day without issue, and easy enough to service in the field when something needs attention. At 7.3 lbs. dry with a 14" bar — shorter than the MS 201 TC-M's 16" option, and lighter overall — the MS 194 T is the choice for arborists whose work is predominantly precision pruning, fine crown work, and situations where a shorter bar and lighter saw improves control and reduces fatigue aloft. The 31.8cc 2-stroke engine produces 1.9 HP through a low-emission design that delivers 20% better fuel economy than older generation equivalent saws, keeping the arborist working longer between descents to refuel.

The IntelliCarb™ compensating carburetor is STIHL's proprietary solution to one of the most common causes of power loss and poor performance on a production arborist saw: a partially clogged air filter that leans out the fuel-air mixture and causes the engine to run above its correct RPM. IntelliCarb™ senses when the filter is restricting airflow and automatically adjusts the air-fuel ratio to maintain the engine's correct RPM — keeping the saw cutting at full power even as the filter loads across a long cutting day, without requiring the operator to stop and service the filter. Paired with IntelliCarb™, the Ematic™ guide bar lubrication system directs all bar oil specifically to the sliding faces of the bar and chain links, rivets, and driver holes rather than simply flowing oil around the bar — reducing bar oil consumption by up to 50% compared to conventional oiler designs while maintaining proper lubrication at all critical wear points.

A built-in retractable carry ring allows the arborist to hang or clip the saw securely in the tree during rigging operations and multi-point work without setting it down or securing it to a limb. One-touch stop shuts the engine down with a single button press and automatically resets to the ON position, eliminating the common mistake of leaving the switch in the OFF position at restart and preventing re-flooding. An integrated diagnostic port allows the saw to be connected to STIHL's diagnostic equipment for fast, accurate troubleshooting without a full shop teardown — a meaningful uptime advantage on a production crew where equipment downtime is a direct cost. A STIHL Quickstop® chain brake is integrated to stop chain rotation in kickback events, and the side-access chain tensioner allows bar and chain adjustment in the tree without removing the bar cover or risking dropped hardware.

⚠️ Professional Use Notice: The STIHL MS 194 T is a top-handle chainsaw intended for professional in-tree use only by trained and certified arborists. It is not designed or approved for ground-based cutting operations. Not available for sale in California.

  • IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor with 31.8cc Low-Emission Engine — IntelliCarb™ automatically adjusts the air-fuel ratio as the air filter loads during a cutting day, maintaining correct engine RPM and full cutting power without requiring the operator to stop and clean the filter between cuts — a direct productivity advantage on long production pruning days
  • Ematic™ Guide Bar Lubrication with Built-In Retractable Carry Ring and Diagnostic Port — the Ematic™ system directs bar oil precisely to critical wear points, reducing bar oil consumption up to 50% compared to conventional oilers, while the retractable carry ring allows the saw to be hung securely in the tree during rigging work and the diagnostic port enables fast in-field troubleshooting without shop disassembly
  • One-Touch Stop with Auto-Reset, Quickstop® Chain Brake, and Side-Access Tensioner — one-touch stop shuts the engine instantly and auto-resets to ON to eliminate restart flooding, the Quickstop® brake stops chain rotation in kickback events, and side-access tensioning allows in-tree chain adjustment without bar cover removal or hardware drop risk
