The Rahn GL650 has been the benchmark infield groomer in organized baseball and softball maintenance for decades — built by Rahn Industries out of Prior Lake, Minnesota, and distributed through the Toro dealer network to groundskeeping crews at every level from municipal recreation fields to professional facilities. What makes the GL650 the standard is the clarity of its design philosophy: every component addresses a specific infield surface problem, and in the C-model configuration all three tools are on the machine simultaneously, interchangeable in the field without additional hardware. The groomer frame connects to the Toro Workman MD Series via a dedicated hitch kit, with a two-way leveling system that operates in either a locked position for controlled grading work or a float position that allows the frame to follow the natural contour of the infield surface — critical on crowned or banked infield profiles where a locked frame would skip or dig unevenly.

The heavy-duty scarifier is the aggressive tool in the system — built for loosening compacted soil on clay-heavy infields where surface hardness has built up from traffic, irrigation cycles, and weather. It breaks the crust and opens the soil profile ahead of the broom pass, restoring workability to a surface that would otherwise need a field drag or dedicated scarifier unit. The springtine scarifier — 76 replaceable 4.5" spring tines in two rows across a 60" working width — addresses the opposite condition: light, sandy, or loose soils where the heavy-duty blades would be too aggressive. The springtines also serve as an efficient dethatching tool on outfield turf and prepare grass surfaces for overseeding by opening the canopy without excessive surface disruption. The triple-row broom assembly at 73" wide follows both scarifiers to produce the finished surface — leveling the loosened material, filling low spots, and sweeping the infield dirt to a smooth, consistent playing surface ready for play. All three components use replaceable wear elements, and Rahn's parts availability is supported through their Prior Lake, MN facility with replacement tines, blades, and broom sections available to keep the unit in rotation rather than down for parts.

  • Two-Way Leveling System with Lock and Float Position — the groomer frame operates in a locked position for precise grading control or a float position that allows the frame to follow the infield's natural contour, giving the operator the right leveling behavior for the specific surface condition and infield profile they're working
  • Dual Scarifier System — HD Blades for Compacted Clay, Springtines for Sandy Soil and Dethatching — the C-model mounts both scarifier types on the same frame, with the heavy-duty scarifier breaking compacted clay profiles and the 76-tine springtine scarifier handling light sandy soils, wet infield drying, and outfield dethatching without requiring a separate attachment for each condition
  • 73" Triple-Row Broom Assembly with Fully Replaceable Wear Components — the wide broom assembly finishes the surface after scarification, leveling loosened material and sweeping to a game-ready condition in a single pass, with all broom sections, tines, and scarifier blades designed as field-replaceable components to maximize uptime across a full season of use
